Afternoons with Kim Robson
When I tuned into the afternoon show on Eagle Radio with Kim Robson, there was a traffic update being played. The male broadcaster was reading out traffic updates that listeners had called in to tell him about. This is a local radio, and this applies to the local area which people were travelling in so is therefore specific information which the listeners will be interested in as it applies to them. He then proceeded to give his name at the end, creating a formal feeling around the bulletin, this then linked into the Eagle radio jingle, which establishes a clear branding and keeps the show running smoothly as there aren’t any gaps or pauses. This then led into a song being played, when the song came to an end a voiceover saying “Eagle Radio” was played.
Kim Robson (the show presenter) then said “coming up in the next 15 minutes” and said that the news, weather and another song by Ellie Goulding would be played. This allows the listener to know what they will be hearing while they are listening to the show. She only mentions the next 15 minutes as people tend to listen to the radio for travelling and they may only be tuned in for a short period of time. This also creates an importance around the news and weather, showing it’s an important part of the show and that people like to know that it’s coming up. These types of updates are important to share with the listeners and I should take this into account when planning my radio show.
