Ideas- Morning radio

Jingles
If we were to do a morning show it is important that the jingle fits appropriately to the show. For example the jingle should be upbeat and cheery to get people ready for their day. The jingle should also include the radio station name and perhaps the show name. This helps to establish a routine with the audience and creates structure.
The jingle will have to be played repeatedly throughout the show as well, not only to structure the show but to break up the segments of the show in an organised way.
The radio jingle will also have to be appropriate to the genre of station we chose to create. For example if we focus on having a pop station the jingle would have to be upbeat and cheery to fit in with the genre of the station and reflect the feel that the station should create for the listener. If we chose to have a rock station, the jingle would be more "in your face" and heavier. This helps to structure the show and help it have a theme.
News
The news can include the local and international news and also include the weather and travel. This will be important as most of the listeners are commuters and will like to know what is going on with their journeys.
Presenters
Looking at the research, and media artefact's 2 presenters would be the popular choice to have for our radio station. If we have one male and one female presenter this makes the show more neutral and allows a larger audience to listen. It is important for the presenters to have a cheery personality, especially in the morning as the listeners need to be woken up and put into a good mood first thing.
Features
It is important to include some features during our show as they keep people interested and allow people to join in. For example asking people to ring in for a competition is popular among radio shows. From the questionnaires I found out that viewers like special guests and interviews, so it is important to consider who we interview for our show.
Sounds
Sounds will be an important part of our radio show, in a morning show you would typically expect sound effects to be played alongside presenting to keep things spontaneous and lively in the morning. As our show is predominantly a news bulletin, we need to consider whether to play a background noise during the news reading, this adds a level of seriousness to the news and allows the focus of the listener to be on the information given to them.
To create our vox pop we can incorporate sound effects over the top of a recording to create the desired outside atmosphere. We can use effects such as traffic noises, crowd or public noise. For this we will have a news correspondent "on location" asking a member of public questions on a particular topic, the questions will have to be short and quick to get the emphasis of time across to the listeners.
