Mornings with Tony Anstis
At the opening of the clip that I listened to there was an introductory jingle with the name of the show in, which makes it clear to the listener what they are listening to and what to expect during the show, this allows repeated listeners to build up a familiarity to the show and will make them tune in more regularly. It was an upbeat jingle which fits the genre of the show, as it’s a morning show it needs to be upbeat to get people up and feeling good about their day. Majority of the listeners will be adults getting up for work, so they will need to have this uplifting jingle to listen to in the morning.
After the jingle, there was a news bulletin including the news and weather by a female presenter. Having a female news presenter makes the show more gender neutral as the main presenter, Toby, is a male. This will widen the audience of listeners. There was background music during the bulletin to make the segment seem more serious, however the focus of piece was on the voice and the information being passed from presenter to listener. This was then followed by a few adverts and then a male presenter introducing himself and the show and then saying “coming up” and listing things for the listeners to expect on the show. This repetition is important as listeners can tune in at any time and need to know what show they're listening to. Letting the listeners know what is coming up on the show is also important as they can decide whether the content of the show suits them, making everything more structured.
This was then followed with another upbeat jingle which said “feel good music” fitting the show as it’s a morning show and saying “this is Heart” to repeat the name of the show to the listeners, after this music began to play, I want you back by the Jackson 5 which is an upbeat and cheery tune, further fitting the morning show to wake up the audience and get them ready for their day.
